HazMat Transportation

As per the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations 49.CFR.172.704, all workers associated in anyway with the shipping process of hazardous materials and transportation, must be trained in;

General Awareness, Safety, and Security Hazmat training.

This awareness training is applicable and required within 90 days of starting the duty and every 3 years thereafter (49.CFR.172.704(c)) for any worker associated with hazardous materials.

As a stand alone course, this is useful for administrators or others who interface, create shipping paperwork, or provide logistics support for HazMat shipping. This also is the base requirements for those also requiring the function specific (Shippers and Carriers).

For just radioactive shipments we have a CLASS 7 TRAINING that covers general awareness, safety, security, and function specific for just radioactive material shipping as per DOT and IATA.

Function specific Hazmat Training for all classes of hazardous material, is an add-on section to the general awareness and security training (not a stand alone training and must be taken with the awareness training to meet regulations). We have function specific modules for:

  • Hazardous Material Shipper training: designed to provide shippers and preparers who offer hazardous material shipments with an understanding of the regulations applicable to their responsibilities, including determining the hazard class and preparing proper shipping papers and documentation.
  • Hazardous Material Carrier/Driver Training: designed to provide drivers and carriers of hazardous materials an understanding of the regulations applicable to their tasks, such as any driver with Hazmat endorsement on their license, or carrier (anyone who puts hazmat in their vehicle).

HAZMAT AWARENESS TRAINING

This training meets the requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT) for general awareness, safety, and security training for hazardous materials shipping.

DOT & IATA CLASS 7 TRAINING; For just radioactive shipments we have a standalone radioactive shipper training that covers general awareness, function specific, and security for just radioactive material, covering Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations and requirements meeting the needs of shippers, preparers, carriers, and loaders.

In some cases, online training is not enough. For example, function specific training for carriers who use DOT-406 cargo tanks would need to cover cargo tank specific requirements to ensure operators are familiar with them. You can conduct your own training or you can have our highly skilled DOT training partner do it for you.
